iTunes U launches in the UK

iTunes U allows colleges and universities to add learning and course content to the iTunes store, which students can download to any iPod or iPhone.

The scheme has been running successfully in the US for over a year but in early June iTunes U celebrated its full UK launch. Apple claims the service is "transforming learning in the classroom, outside the classroom, and where there's no classroom at all".

The first participants to take advantage of the benefits of iTunes U are UCL, Trinity College Dublin and the Open University, with several more joining in the near future.
